For me, art has become a way to find a place where I can simply be okay. I use paint and brush as an escape, a release from the stress, pain, and worries of the world.

I love watercolors for several reasons. First, it’s a wild and unpredictable medium. It never allows for true "perfection". The water does what it wants. I can try to guide it, but eventually the outcome is out of my hands. And I love that.

Second, I enjoy taking a medium that is often associated with loose, floral styles and pushing it in the opposite direction. I’m not claiming to be the only realistic watercolor artist, nor the only one who avoids painting florals (although, yes, I’ve painted a few flowers too). What excites me is testing the boundaries of control and seeing how much I can rein in the looseness of watercolor while still allowing its unique beauty to shine through.

Finally, my love for art began because someone believed it was important. I was required to take an art credit in high school, and from there, I committed to the craft. As I immersed myself in both creating and experiencing art, I discovered a deep joy rooted in expression, experimentation, and connection. Even when a piece feels sad, it still brings me happiness. Art makes me feel alive, and makes life more enjoyable.

To everyone: it is not just a pretty picture, even when it looks like one. Intentional or subconsciously, every artist has a voice and a story. Their soul is present in each brushstroke and every drop of paint. There is something profoundly human in the act of creating.

Art has become a necessity in my life. It is my place of peace and relaxation. So, welcome. Please stay awhile.
